Cable TV operator hacked to death

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI : A cable television operator was hacked to death by an armed gang early on Thursday. Police said E. Venkatesan (32) of Satyamurthi Nagar, Teynampet, a cable TV operator and real estate agent, was returning home around 2.30 a.m. in his new car, when the gang intercepted and attacked him. He died on the spot.

Police have arrested three suspects. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Mylapore) A.G. Mourya said it could be due to differences over sharing of money. Police, who are questioning the three suspects, said Venkatesan had received some money from a film production unit, but did not share it with his associate.

The arrested are Mani (35), a car driver, Yuvaraj (21), a car mechanic, and Raja (21), a painter — all from Dr. Thomas Road, Teynampet. Police are looking for three more persons.
