Businessman murdered

BANGALORE: A young businessman was hacked to death in the Rajarajeshwarinagar police station limits on Wednesday night.

The police gave his name as Naveen Raje Urs (23), a resident of Malleswaram. He owned a photo frame works firm at RPC Layout in Vijayanagar. The assailants had attacked him with choppers and smashed his head with a boulder. His body was found at Bangarappanagar Gudda, a hillock, on Thursday morning.

According to the police, Naveen was last seen on Wednesday evening. Someone came to Naveen's shop around 6 p.m. and took him on a scooter. It is said that Naveen was into real estate business.

Pedestrians killed

Two pedestrians were killed in road accidents in the city since Wednesday night. Rukmini Krishnaswamy (58) died on the spot after a tractor hit her on Upper Pipeline Road in Seshadripuram around 6.45 a.m. on Thursday. The High Grounds traffic police have registered a case.

In the other incident, a man aged around 40 was killed in a hit-and-run case reported from Byatarayanapura traffic police station limits. The police said that around 11.30 p.m. on Wednesday the vehicle knocked down pedestrian near Kengeri sub-registrar's office.

Killed in accident

Samiullah (30) and his mother Athalunissa (50) were killed on Thursday at 5 p.m. at Mayaganahalli in Bidadi police station limits on the Bangalore-Mysore Highway.

Residents of R.T. Nagar, the two were travelling back to Bangalore when a sand-laden truck stopped suddenly because a tanker ahead had applied brakes. Samiullah, riding the two-wheeler, also applied the brakes but he lost control and rammed into the truck. Both he and his mother died on the spot.
