Man murdered

MADURAI: A lorry driver was allegedly murdered by his son-in-law at Teppakulam here on Thursday.

P. Rajendran (45) of Mahalakshmi Nagar was taking rest near his lorry when D. Satish Kumar (18) of Singarayar Colony stabbed him indiscriminately.

Rajendran was rushed to a private hospital where he succumbed. The accused was taken into custody.

Sets wife ablaze

In another case of murder, a loadman, P. Jayabalan (34) of Palanganatham allegedly murdered his wife, J. Malarvizhi (32) by setting her on fire. The incident occurred on Wednesday night after a quarrel between the two. In her dying declaration at the Government Rajaji Hospital, Malarvizhi said her husband, who was in an inebriated condition, doused her with kerosene and set her ablaze.
