B.Ed colleges for conversion of seats

Staff Reporter

Association members to meet YSR and seek his cooperation

HYDERABAD: The Telangana B.Ed Colleges Managements Association has requested the Government for the conversion of the leftover seats in mathematics and physical sciences methodologies to social sciences and biological sciences.

"Lot of seats in these two methodologies are vacant and colleges should be allowed to convert them for their survival," S. Prabhakar Reddy, president of the association, said at a meeting of the colleges held on Thursday.

He said the demand for mathematics and physical sciences had come down this year and B.Ed colleges were no more viable to run.

Every college would have six seats in the mathematics stream and three seats in physical sciences stream under the management quota.

He said the representatives would meet Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and seek his cooperation. He also wanted the Government to streamline the academic year of the B.Ed course. Members of the Southern Regional Committee of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) S. Sandeep and Shiva Reddy also spoke.
