Traffic police SI alleges harassment by ACP
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
Abids traffic police station sub-inspectors boycotted duties for sometime on Thursday alleging harassment by their Assistant Commissioner of Police A.K. Dubey.
Sub-Inspector A. Srinivasulu picked up an argument with the ACP in the afternoon accusing the latter of using objectionable words while dealing with subordinates. He maintained that Mr. Dubey called him over mike set around 1.45 p.m. and asked about his location.
"I told him that I broke for lunch. But he started abusing me over mike forcing me to rush to his office to give explanation," the SI said. The SI's colleagues and some traffic police constables assembled at the ACP office on learning about the incident boycotting duties.
Unmindful of the presence of a TV news channel crew, the ACP and the SI exchanged heated arguments. Mr. Dubey said he did not see any SI on duty near the BJR statue around 1.30 p.m. since many VIPs and VVIPs were supposed to pass by the route to attend Babu Jagjivan Ram's birth anniversary celebrations. "Concerned, I sought explanation from the SI concerned but he rather took it in a different sense," he said.
