Thiruvananthapuram: Two persons were killed and eight others injured when a lorry carrying sand lost control and rammed a roadside shop at Vandithadam near Pachalloor in Thiruvallam police station limits on Thursday evening. The police identified the deceased as Hassan Baba, 80, owner of Hassan Stores, and Kunjulakshmi, 65, a customer who was buying provisions from the store. The injured persons were pedestrians. Some of them sustained grave fractures, the police said. They were identified as Lilly Pushpam, 40; her husband, Jayan, 44, their son, Jittu Jayan, 3, daughter, Jeena; Subash, 18, Basheer, 65, Ponnan, 65, and Surendran, 65. The injured were rushed to the Medical College Hospital in police vehicles. The police said the lorry hit a median, lost control and rammed the shop.
