Raichur: The State Government has approved a proposal submitted by the Raichur Development Authority (RDA) to purchase about 30 acres revenue land on the Raichur-Mantralayam Road for a proposed housing colony. This was stated at a press conference here on Friday by A.Papa Reddy, MLA, and Govinda, chairman of the RDA. Mr. Reddy said the identified land was located 2 km from the city and was ideal for developing a housing colony. The Government had tentatively fixed the rate at Rs. 80,000 an acre of land. However, the RDA had appealed to the Government to provide land at a concessional price as the proposed project would benefits the middle class people in the city. It was hoped that the Government would reduce the land price by 50 per cent, he said. It had finalised a plan for formation of about 700 sites of different dimensions, including 30 ft x 40 ft and 60 ft x 40 ft open sites to suit the requirement of all categories of people in the city, he said. It also proposed to construct a multi-storeyed office complex on the site for its office. He said the Government had released Rs. 5 crore more to the Raichur City Municipality for widening and improving two major roads .
