Rajahmundry: Newly-elected Legislative Council member from MLA's quota from East Godavari district Kandula Durgesh has said that he will work for the success of speedy implementation of State Government schemes. On first visit to his native town, Rajahmundry on Friday Mr. Durgesh who got grand reception from railway station to Congress office said Government schemes like `Indiramma' and Rajiv Grihakalpa were very good schemes and both schemes were facing teething troubles in implementation and that too because of lack of coordination between government departments as well as supervision.
Need of the hour
He said that taking the existing programmes to the rural masses was more important than carrying them to urban areas. Mr. Durgesh, who entered politics at the young age during 1980's served as Congress party's town joint secretary in 1986 and is a good orator. Congress released cassettes of his speeches and used in many elections. He produced `Keechurallu'-Telugu movie in 1990 and worked as State Drainage Board member from 1992-94.
He said that he and another MLC Padmaraju will consider district as a unit and set long-term goals for development of the district.
