ADILABAD: Soyam Ansu Bai alias Godavari alias Deepa, deputy commander of Jimmalgatta dalam of CPI (Maoist) in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra surrendered to Adilabad district police on Friday. The naxalite belonging to Gangannapet hamlet of Kadem mandal carried a reward of Rs. 1 lakh of Maharashtra Government and Rs. 50,000 from Andhra Pradesh. Producing the Maoist at a press conference, Adilabad Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar said Deepa was involved in three murders including that of Munde Babruvahan of Narsapur village in Ichoda mandal. The other two were killed in Maharashtra. The naxalites had also escaped alive from four exchanges of fire at Vaipet and Domdhari in Indervelli mandal and Khairiguda near Mangi in Tiryani mandal in addition to one at Bairamgadh in Chhattisgarh, having joined the Maoist ranks some seven years ago. After training in Adilabad district, Deepa was sent to Madded dalam of Dantewada in Chhattisgarh and subsequently to Gangloor and Bairamgad dalams of the same State. Ill health and disenchantment with Maoist ideology were cited by Deepa as reasons for her surrender.
