Flights cancelled: passengers stranded

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Several passengers of Indian flight CD 7478, bound for Delhi via Visakhapatnam and Raipur, were stranded at the Kamaraj domestic terminal on Friday due to sudden cancellation of the flight.

Daksesh Parikh, a passenger, alleged that most passengers had booked their tickets either to Visaakhapatnam or Raipur. Though the flight was scheduled to leave at 10 a.m., no announcement regarding the delay in the departure was made at the airport, he said. Initially, the authorities said the flight was rescheduled due to a technical snag. Later, the Indian authorities said since the airfield at Vishakapatnam was closed for defence exercise, it would be difficult to say as to when the flight would take off. Around 3.30 p.m. the authorities informed the passengers that the flight had been cancelled and that the passengers bound for Vishakapatnam would be re-booked in the same flight on Saturday.
