RBI (Chennai) in final

Sivakasi: Reserve Bank of India, Chennai entered the final of the 31st annual Vinothakumar Memorial Trophy State-level football tournament with a lone-goal victory over Dindigul District Football Association at Sivakasi on Saturday.

The first half was well contested but ended barren. However, Reserve Bank had a slight edge over the opponent in the second session and succeeded in scoring the winner in the 53rd minute, when striker Bharanidharan, receiving a pass from midfielder Loganathan inside the box, booted home.

Big win for PGGM FC

P.G. Govindarajan Memorial Football Club posted an emphatic 5-0 win over Victoria Football Club in the Madurai DFA `B' division league for Hi-Tech Arai Trophy at Madurai on Saturday.

The results: P.G. Govindarajan Memorial FC 5 (Lognath Balaji 2, Balamurugan, Alagar, Palpandi) bt Victoria FC 0; Senthilkumar Memorial FC 2 (Vijayaraghavan, Ruban) bt Pandyan Sarawathy Yadava EC 0.

Noorul bats well

Noorul Riaz's unbeaten 72 helped TVS Club chalk out an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Majestic Cricket Club in the MDCA first division `A' zone league at Madura College ground, Madurai on Saturday.

The scores: First division `A' zone: Majestic CC 116 in 25.2 overs lost to TVS Club 117 for two in 17.2 overs (Noorul Riaz 72 not out).

Third division: Thirunagar CC 137 in 22.5 overs (Jeyamurthy 43, Raja four for 20, Prasanna four for 21) lost to Aparajitha CC 140 for three in 20.2 overs (Bala 44 not out).

KAM FC posts two wins

Karuppiah Ambalam Memorial Football Club, Kottaiyur registered two wins in the Sivagangai District Football Association `B' division league at Karaikudi on Saturday.

The results: Karuppiah Memorial FC 2 (Prakash, Ramamurthy) bt Chidambaram memorial FC, K. Velangudi 1 (Sundararajan); Golden Star FC, Karuviapatti 2 (Solaimalai, Murugan) bt Nehru Youth FC, Kothari 0; Karuppiah memorial FC 2 (Vinodh, Rajan) bt Friends FC, Kandanur 0; Young Men's FC, Kattuthalaivasal 1 (Manikandan) bt Winners SC, Vairavapuram 0.

Selection trials

The SRM Group of Institutions will conduct a three day selection trials in Coimbatore from April 11 to select the sports quota admission in volleyball, basketball, athletics, tennis, badminton, kabaddi, ball badminton, table tennis, cricket, chess, for men and women. Throwball trials
