Port of Spain : The World Cup organisers have woken up to the criticism of the showpiece event being dull and boring without Calypso beats and have allowed the fans to bring musical instruments in the ground to liven up matches. Spectators can now simply turn up on match days with their instruments and be given the approval as they pass through security. ICC CWC 2007 Managing Director and CEO Chris Dehring said the adjustment was agreed upon to strike a balance between the safety and enjoyment of viewers. ``Safety must be paramount at matches but we do want everyone to watch cricket in a festive and lively atmosphere. ``The world has already seen the spectacle of fans from all over the world dancing and savouring the unique environment in which this event is being held and CWC is just seeking to enhance that even further for the remaining matches,'' Dehring said in a statement. Musical instruments may include items such as conch shells, horns, shak shaks, drums and trumpets. Former cricketing greats such as West Indian Vivian Richards and Australian Steve Waugh had pointed out that the World Cup matches were missing in the spirit of local culture without its music during the showpiece event.
