Disaster Management Authority set up in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Government has constituted the State-level Disaster Management Authority. The formation of the authority was notified on March 1 and would be formally inaugurated by Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan on May 9, Revenue Minister K. P. Rajendran told a news conference here on Saturday.

The Revenue Minister said the nine-member State Disaster Management Authority had been formed as stipulated in the National Disaster Management Authority Act of 2005 with the Chief Minister as chairman and the Revenue Minister as vice-chairman.
