Chennai: The former India captain, Ravi Shastri, has been named Cricket Manager for India's forthcoming tour of Bangladesh. The decision was taken at the BCCI's Working Committee meeting in Mumbai on Saturday. Shastri has played 80 Tests for India, scoring 3830 runs at 35.79 and claiming 151 wickets at 40.96. He also has 3108 runs (at 29.04) and 129 wickets (economy rate 4.21) from 150 One Day Internationals. In another significant move, Rahul Dravid has been retained captain for India's next three series, in Bangladesh, Ireland and England. Venkatesh Prasad and Robin Singh, both former Indian cricketers, have been named bowling and fielding coaches respectively for the tour of Bangladesh. India will play three ODIs and two Tests during the tour of Bangladesh, beginning on May 10. It was also decided at the meeting to end the graded system of contracts for the players. This will be replaced by a standard fee for all and performance-based incentives. The players will now be allowed to endorse only three products a year. And no more than two cricketers can endorse the same product. The shooting for any endorsement will have to be at least two weeks before a series.
