Medical camp held for street children

  • Need to give priority to health among the children stressed
  • 200 children undergo health check-up at the camp

    Bangalore: On the occasion of World Health Day, BOSCO, a non-governmental organisation working with street children, in collaboration with Smile Foundation India organised health camp for the street, slum and working children who are vulnerable to sickness such as viral fever, vomiting, scabies, head ache and stomach ache, uncured wounds and so on.

    The camp emphasised the need to give priority to good health among the street children. The camp was held at BOSCO Mane. There were over 200 children present for the health check-up camp, which was inaugurated in the presence of Narayana Gowda, Resident Medical Officer, Vani Vilas Hospital, Pushpalatha, Assistant Professor, Vani Vilas, Sr. Deepa, Principal, St. Martha's Nursing School, Fr. George P.S., Director BOSCO Mane and Raji Reddy of Smile Foundation. .

    The doctors who examined the health of these children have expressed that in general the hygiene among the children is good except for a few. The doctors were of the opinion that along with the general medical camp, similar camps should be organised regularly for Dental, ENT and vision testing for these children time to time.
