`Don't draw wrong conclusions'

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Gopal B. Hosur says that it is wrong to come to the conclusion, based on stray incidents, that IT professionals are not safe in Bangalore.

Statistics put the number at maybe one murder a year and it could be incidental that the victim was from the IT sector. For instance, it was a coincidence that Manoj was a software engineer, he told The Hindu on Saturday.

"In fact, most of the people murdered in the city are not IT professionals but mainly autorickshaw drivers, construction workers and people from other professions," he said.

"Can we say that people (from these professions) are not safe in Bangalore," Mr. Hosur asked.
