It is necessary to admit mistakes: Buddhadeb
KOLKATA:
Under fire from Leftist intellectuals over the police firing in Nandigram, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacherjee on Saturday said it was necessary to admit mistakes and convince such persons about the Government's programmes. "I am interacting with intellectuals who are upset," he told a meeting of Left Front partners here. "I also ask you to make efforts in this direction," he said when State Forward Bloc secretary Ashok Ghosh drew his attention to the intellectuals' ire on the issue. Mr. Bhattacherjee, who publicly scrapped the setting up of a chemical hub in Nandigram following the death of 14 persons in the police firing, said: "We have decided to start a social and political process to normalise the situation in Nandigram."
