BANGALORE: It is a website that could help generate employment avenues for many in rural areas of the country by helping entrepreneurs to start home-based industries to produce bio-diesel, bio-insecticides, bio-fertilisers and spirulina. Launched by R.R. Suryakiran, a faculty member at the M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology, www.sbioinformatics.com offers free online services to the youth in rural areas to start small-scale industries based on biotechnology. "The idea is to make use of land in and around villages and generate employment avenues," Mr. Suryakiran says. The website is managed by Sevas Educational Society that aims at the development of villages by creating awareness on biotechnology, bio-informatics and other fields.
