Aligarh:
Aligarh Muslim University Vice-Chancellor Naseem Ahmad has resigned from the post following differences with leaders of the students union.
Mr. Ahmad, a senior IAS officer from the Haryana cadre, submitted his resignation to the President, the head of the university, on Saturday night, university officials said on Sunday.
Though his tenure ends next month, Mr. Ahmad has been under pressure for the past few weeks in the wake of a face-off with student leaders on a number of issues related to dates of examinations and attendance.
Professor Saleemuddin, the pro Vice-Chancellor, has taken over as the acting Vice-Chancellor. PTI
