Two killed in road accidents

KOCHI: Two persons were killed in separate accidents in the city on Sunday. A 32-year-old man, Sikandar Basha, a native of Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, died in a road accident at Udayamperoor. The victim, a cleaner, is said to have been hit by a car while crossing the road. A 16-year-old boy, Shanavaz, died in an accident involving an autorickshaw at Nettoor, the police said. — Staff Reporter

Exhibition of building materials

KOCHI: Imported building materials and associated products will be on display at Design Impex - 2007, an exhibition to be organised at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium from May 4 to 6. The Kerala chapter of the Indian Institute of Architecture is organising the show. A seminar on `Vision Kochi' will be held on May 4, as part of the exhibition, the organisers said. — Staff Reporter

Awareness programme

KOCHI: A two-day awareness programme on Indo-Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement will be arranged under the auspices of the Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in association with the Government of Sri Lanka, on April 16 and 17 at Hotel Taj Residency.

G.L. Peiris, Sri Lankan Minister for Export Development and International Trade, will lead a delegation of leading businessmen from Sri Lanka. — Staff Reporter

District convention

KOCHI: The Ernakulam district convention of the CPI(ML) will be held at Paravur on April 9 and 10. A rally and public meeting will be held on the first day. The delegates will meet on the second day.
