TIRUCHI: The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) Desiya Murpokku Thozhilalar Sangam, affiliated to the Vijayakanth-led Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), was inaugurated at a function held at the BHEL main office here on Monday. The State secretary of Desiya Murpolli Thozil Sanga Paeravai, G. Subramaniam, who inaugurated the union, said that Mr. Vijayakanth was fully aware of the problems confronting the working class and would always stand by them. Wage revision
The State secretary of the general and unorganised labour wing, V. Nadaraja, in his presidential address, called upon the BHEL management to take steps for commencing the negotiations to revise the wages of the workers immediately. The previous ten-year wage agreement ended in December 2006, he said. He also pleaded with the other workers' unions to come to an understanding and work in tandem on this issue in the interest of the working class. He commended the management for recruiting new workers after three decades. S. Arokiyasamy, former MLA, the district secretary of the DMDK, S. Senthilkumar, and others spoke.
