Nagapattinam: A large number of tsunami-hit families in the district represented to the Collector, Tenkasi S. Jawahar, on Monday for allotment of permanent houses immediately stating that they were finding it difficult to live in temporary shelters. Members of several tsunami-hit families appealed to allocate houses wherever available. The Collector, who received 275 petitions, assured that most of the permanent houses would be handed over to the beneficiaries by the end of next month. He said that the list of selected beneficiaries was being displayed in panchayats and taluk offices and assured to take action if any eligible person was left out in the list.
