Blame it on live telecast

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Several reasons are attributed to the frequent disruption of proceedings in the Legislative Assembly and Council. But Congress member in the Legislative Council B. Radhakrishnaiah seems to have a definitive answer for the chaos witnessed in the elected bodies.

The live telecast, according to him, was the main reason prompting members to disrupt the proceedings on some pretext or the other. "The keenness of the members to be seen in the media is resulting in the chaos," he said, participating in the debate on the motion of thanks to Governor's address to the joint session on Monday.

Teachers' constituency member B. Mohan Reddy earlier pointed out that with the absence of coverage, information about the issues raised by the members was not reaching people.

"As the newspapers are writing little about the Council proceedings, it is better to have their live telecast," he said.
