DELIGHTED: Television artist Santhoshi being crowned `Miss Chinnathirai-2007' by actor Bharath in Chennai on Sunday.

CHENNAI: Television artist Santhoshi was crowned `Miss Chinnathirai — 2007' at a glittering function on Sunday.

Iswarya won the second place while Kajol came third. Actor Bharath honoured the winners.

Earlier, the contest featured a beauty pageant by small screen women actors at the L'Amicale Club. Ten women actors, who have worked in popular television programmes, including serials, sashayed down the ramp.

The contestants took part in an introduction round, a talent round, a costume round, and a question-and-answer round. Entertainment programmes in between each round added to the glitz.

Performances by actors Divyadarshini, Deepak, Pooja and Sanjeeev was interspersed with the rendering of popular film songs by Shyam, Vijesh, Sai, Archana, Suchithra, Rajesh and Chitra. Mimicry by Sethu raised a few laughs.

After the rounds, the jury — actors Ambika, Bablu, director Madesh, fashion designers Abitha, Lavanya and Dr.Sharmila — zeroed in on the winners under the different categories.

The awards were given to Neelima for the best physique, Deepa for the best complexion, Neepa for the best eyes, Akila for the best hair, Lavanya for the best smile, Shilpa for the best talent and Arunadevi for the best cat walker.
