Bangalore: TeamLease Services Pvt. Ltd., staffing solutions organisation based here, has released the third quarterly employment outlook report for the period April to June 2007. The report has good and bad news as far as jobseekers and those looking at switching jobs in Bangalore are concerned. The sharpest increase in employment outlook since the previous quarter has been in Chennai at 19 per cent while it has gone up by only 4 per cent in Bangalore. On the flipside, the index points dealing with the previous two quarters indicates a market demand for increased manpower in Bangalore now. The information technology sector reflects the highest demand, increasing from 29 to 34 points. The report shows retail, media and FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) show the highest net employment outlook growth, followed by infrastructure. Across various sectors, middle management level hiring has increased by 10 per cent and at the junior level by 6 per cent. According to Sampath Shetty, TeamLease vice-president, "With the new fiscal year, business confidence looks positive with the retail boom taking centre stage once again. Indian companies from the organised sector and MNCs are entering into textiles, infrastructure and real estate. This reflects opportunities and growth for companies across the country, Bangalore included."
Rural hiring
Going by the report, Mr. Shetty expected to see increase in rural hiring, mainly because of banking and financial services making inroads into the rural market. Along with that sector, infrastructure, retail and manufacturing had the maximum opportunities across skill sets and this led to major hiring in the junior to mid management levels. The challenge for organisations at this stage would be to match the demand and supply of manpower.
