Petrol dealers call strike for April 13

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Petrol pumps all over the country will remain dry from the midnight of April 12 to the midnight of April 13 following a strike call given by the Federation of All India Petroleum Traders.

The federation, commanding a membership of 32,000 dealers, has threatened an indefinite strike from April 28, if the Petroleum Ministry fails to resolve their demands.

The demands are: the dealers' margin should be fixed at five per cent of the invoice value; pending submission of the report of the Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehra Dun, no action should be taken against dealers for negative stock losses beyond the current permissible limits; an appellate authority, before which the dealers may complain against high-handedness of oil company officers, should be set up; and oil companies should also be subjected to the marker test to check product authenticity.
