MUMBAI: The market recovered initial losses on Tuesday and ended flat at 13189.54 as foreign funds made fairly heavy purchases at lower levels. The Sensex bounced back from the day's low of 13075.48 and later ended at 13189.54, a net gain of 11.80 points or 0.09 per cent over Monday's close of 13177.74. The S&P CNX Nifty edged up by 4.65 points to close at 3848.15 from 3843.50. Foreign Institutional Investors were believed to be buyers at the day's lower levels. Adopting a cautious approach ahead of the earning season, operators and retail investors focussed their attention on covering short positions in the Futures, brokers said. A mixed trend in Asian bourses also had a sentimental impact on the market sentiment. Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and metal shares attracted good buying support in the light of bright prospects for these sectors. . PTI
