Former TDB president files writ

Staff Reporter

High CourtRoundup

Kochi: A writ petition was filed before the Kerala High Court challenging the action of the High Power Commission, appointed to look into the affairs of the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB), in ordering a police probe into the appointments in the board.

The petition was filed by G. Raman Nair, former president of the TDB. He contended that when moved in the Supreme Court, the Apex Court held that the Commission was entitled only to go into the question raised in the writ petition.

Show cause

Justice Siri Jagan has issued notice to the District Transport Officer to show cause why action should not be taken against him for sending a personal letter to the Judge.

In a response to a notice issued on a writ petition, the Officer allegedly addressed a letter to the judge saying that the case did not pertain to the court.

Meanwhile, Tomin J. Thachankery, Inspector General of Police and Managing Director of the Kerala Books and Publication Society, filed a petition against the appointment of A. Surendran, DIG, to investigate the allegations into the import of equipment for the studio owned by Mr. Thachankery's wife.
