LONDON: Arsenal stretched its winless streak to four games on Monday after being held to a 0-0 draw at Newcastle in the Premier League. Arsenal, which had lost its previous three games, lost for the first time in the league at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, falling to West Ham 1-0. The Gunners have never lost four straight games under manager Arsene Wenger. ``For us, after three defeats, it was important to not lose, and maybe it could be a good point at the end of the season,'' Wenger said. Arsenal is playing without injured strikers Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie, and the team created few chances on Monday. James Milner had the best chance for Newcastle, hitting the crossbar in the 46th minute.
The draw kept Arsenal in fourth place, four points behind Liverpool. Manchester United leads the league with 78 points, only three more than Chelsea. Bolton held on to fifth place with its 1-1 draw against Everton.
The results: Aston Villa 1 drew with Wigan Athletic 1; Bolton 1 drew with Everton 1; Fulham 1 lost to Manchester City 3; Newcastle United 0 drew with Arsenal 0; Charlton 0 drew with Reading 0.
