Gorakhpur: Jan Morcha on Tuesday promised to provide 8.44 per cent reservation for Muslims in Uttar Pradesh besides waiving credits of farmers and weavers. Releasing the party's manifesto here, former Prime Minister and Jan Morcha chief V. P. Singh promised 8.44 per cent reservation for Muslims as per Mandal Commission recommendations. "We are committed to work for different sections including farmers, weavers, landless labourers and unemployed youths. If our party comes to power, we will stop acquiring land of farmers by the government on behalf of private entrepreneurs including SEZs," he said. Singh said his party would implement the Karpuri Thakur Committee recommendation to provide reservation to most backward classes. The manifesto also promises ten per cent reservation to the economically weak among upper castes. Singh said his party would negotiate with the Centre in this regard. "For the unemployed youth, the party would launch Padho-Kamao Yojana (learn and earn scheme)," Singh said. -- PTI
