VIZIANAGARAM: The five-day `Bharat Nirman _ public information' programme was inaugurated at Denkada, near here, on Tuesday by Zilla Parishad Chairperson B. Appala Naidu. Speaking on the occasion, he said development would possible if only women were enlightened on various developmental programmes of the government. Owing to lack of awareness among people on the programmes the Government was not able to achieve the desired results, he felt. The programme was so far organised in five districts in the State, he said. He said the Government had till now extended Rs. 30 lakhs as loan at 25 paise interest to SHGs in Bhogapuram, Poosapatirega and Denkada mandals.
Water supply
The Vizianagaram Municipality has decided to supply drinking water on alternate days from April 12 in view of severe load shedding at pump houses. This would be in force during summer, said Commissioner S.S.Verma at a press conference here on Tuesday. He said that water would be supplied through tankers free of cost in case of emergency. The Commissioner asked people to cooperate with municipal officials and contact the Municipal Engineer Grade I on his mobile phone 9849906481, Deputy Executive Engineer 9849906485, and Assistant Engineers (1st ward to 10th ward ) 9849908298, (11th ward to 19th ward) 9849908301, (20th ward to 28th ward) 9849908299 and (29th ward to 38th ward) 9849907025 for complaints.
Power-cut
The Eastern Power Distribution Company (Vizianagaram circle) has released the revised power-cut schedule for the district following severe criticism from the public on erratic power-cut. According to B. Ramesh Prasad, SE (Transco), power-cut for domestic consumers will be for six hours during day and one hour during night.The load shedding will be from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. to 12 midnight in Parvathipuram, Cheepurupalli, Garividi, Garbham, Terlam, Nellimarla, Gurla, Dattirajeru, Komarada and Garugubilli mandals. From 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., 12 noon to 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. in Vizianagaram, Bobbili, Saluru, Denkada, Bhogapuram, Poosapatirega, Kothavalasa, Vepada, Balijipeta, Sitanagaram, Makkuva, Ramabhadrapuram, Badangi and Pachipenta
