Kakinada: Joint Collector C. Sudarsan Reddy on Tuesday called upon revenue officials to expedite the process of identification and acquisition of lands under the land bank scheme for distribution among members of self-help groups. Addressing MROs and RDOs at a meeting held at the Collectorate, he asked them to identify those lands usurped by others from the original beneficiaries and initiate proceedings to restore them to the beneficiaries or reassign to the eligible among weaker sections. The Joint Collector wanted them to identify government lands and also acquire the private lands in sub-plan mandals for leasing them out to SC beneficiaries for taking up agriculture. Since ryots require credit facilities, he wanted them to form small beneficiaries into groups and extend them the credit facility at 4 per cent interest arranging bank tieup. The Joint Collector advised them to identify beneficiaries for assignment of house sites in the Indira Kranti Patham mandals.
