Staff Reporter

Mismatch between sanctioned houses, population in villages

  • Concern over delay in making payments for Indiramma houses
  • Warning against delay in payments to labourers working under APREGS

KADAPA: District Collector M.T. Krishna Babu has ordered a resurvey of Indiramma houses as a number of houses sanctioned were in variance with the population in villages as per the 2001 census.

Proposals were received for sanction of 1.46 lakh houses under Indiramma scheme this year, against 82,000 houses sanctioned last year, he said in the Rajampet divisional review meeting at the Rajampet sub-collector's office.

Expressing concern over the delay in making payments for Indiramma houses, he wanted disbursal expedited. He warned of stern action against APREGS programme officers if wage payment to labourers was delayed.

    Praja Patham focus

Praja Patham commencing on April 14 would lay thrust on mitigating drinking water scarcity, power supply problems and employment generation. The first phase of Praja Patham would be held in Dalitawadas in villages not covered by Indiramma scheme, Mr. Krishna Babu said. As the Twelfth Finance Commission funds were awaited for augmenting drinking water supply, general funds could be utilised, he advised. Transco should supply power on a priority to agricultural fields where crops were on the verge of withering.

The Collector urged officials to ascertain the age of pensioners. An action plan of Rs. 80 crores was prepared for developing dairying. A pilot project of Rs. 49 crores was sanctioned for giving a fillip to dairying in 10 mandals in Railway Kodur and Rajampet constituencies.

Bulk chilling centres were mooted in 24 mandals to enhance milk procurement by 5,000 litres. The Collector ordered repairs to 1,500 tanks under Indiramma Cheruvulu to provide work to labourers.

Joint Collector Kanthilal Dande, DRO G. Joshi Babu, Zilla Parishad CEO P. Durga PrasadMPDOs and tahsildars participated.
