Striking teachers go on fast

Kakinada: In response to the call given by the JACTO, a large number of teachers owing allegiance to the UTF, STU, PRTU, APTF, SGTPET, Language pundits association, State Upadhyaya Panditha Parishad and PET association besides head masters association staged dharna in front of the Collectorate here on Tuesday denouncing the Government's alleged indifference towards their demands. A batch of 24 teachers representing all teachers' organisations began fast en masse. K Anil Johnson, NGOs association leader, inaugurated the hunger strike camp. Leaders of various trade unions including D Gouri Naidu, Revenue services association State leader, JAC city unit leader Vadrevu Sambasivarao, NGOs leaders N Ramarao, B Chellarao and Nanduri Rathnam, Higher Education employees union leaders KV V Satyanarayana Reddy, Pothula Viswam Chief of Rajiv Gandhi educational institutions, SFI district president M Venkatesh isited the hunger strike camp and expressed their solidarity with the stir.

Leaders firm

The JACTO leaders said they would intensify their stir if the talks with Government scheduled at Hyderabad ended in deadlock.
