Hubli-Dharwad
Staff Correspondent
HUBLI: The Union Government has released Rs. 1 crore for the development of a 13-km stretch on the old National Highway between Hubli and Dharwad. In a release issued here on Tuesday, Dharwad North MP, Pralhad Joshi, said the allocation had been made under the Central Road Fund (CRF). He said Rs. 1 crore has been released under the road fund for the 15-km stretch between Navalgund and Shanawad. The development of the highway between Hubli and Dharwad has been neglected ever since the bypass road on the Puna-Bangalore National Highway (No. 4) was opened to traffic five years ago. Last year, Rs. 3 crore was released for widening the road under the CRF. There was some improvement in the condition of the road. But owing to plying of vehicles its condition had again deteriorated.
