Strokes of protest

YOUNG TALENT: An expression of resentment against the Cauvery tribunal verdict

A Class 8 student, B.J. Jahnavi of Banashankari I Stage, has chosen to register her protest against the Cauvery Tribunal award through a painting, which she wants to send to President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

She recently showed it to Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy who admired her work of art and the theme.

The painting, full of drama, shows Mother Cauvery in between two dead trees from which two agriculturists have hung themselves.

The pot in the hands of Mother Cauvery is empty and some birds are desperately trying to find some water.

In the background is the map of Karnataka. The Cauvery river passes through fire and then moves towards a full-bellied farmer sleeping on a lavishly green patch of land.

Daughter of painter B.D. Jagadish and Sumitra, Jahnavi has won many awards in art, academics, elocution and quiz.
