Health workers to protest on April 16
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
Community health workers plan to lay siege to the offices of Integrated Tribal Development Agencies (ITDA) on April 16 under the auspices of the State committee of Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU), demanding payment of wage arrears and increased wages.
Salary dues
S. Veeraiah, CITU general secretary, and K. Dhanalakshmi, general secretary, AP Community Health Workers' Union, said in a press release here that salary dues of health workers were pending for eight months and were being only Rs.400 each.
They alleged that over Rs.4 crores released by the Commissioner of Family Welfare in four instalments for payment of dues was diverted by the administration.
The other demands of the workers include job security, payment of TA and DA, supply of adequate medicines for patients, promotion as ANMs, provision of medical kits, torch-lights, boots, uniform and cycles and accident insurance facility.
