Clashes: cases booked against two MLAs

HYDERABAD:
South Zone DCP Kantha Rao on Tuesday said that police were analysing the video clippings taken by local cable operators to ascertain if two Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MLAs instigated the crowds during the recent communal clashes reported at Madannapet.
Criminal cases were registered against two persons -- Yakutpura MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan and Charminar MLA Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri -- following allegations that they incited the mobs. Speaking to reporters, the DCP said penal action would be initiated against the legislators if incriminating evidence was found.
Policemen praised
Earlier, he presented mementos to 20 policemen, including home guards and constables, appreciating their efforts in controlling the clashes in a short time.
