HYDERABAD: The State Government has decided to make a special grant of Rs. one crore each to all the 13 Assembly segments in the city to take up works under the Praja Patham programme being launched on April 14. With the special grant, works to the tune of Rs. 50 lakhs each would be grounded by the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad and the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board in all the constituencies.
Additional fund
Information and Public Relations Minister Mohd. Ali Shabbir announced this at a meeting with the city MPs, MLAs and senior officials here on Tuesday to chalk out modalities of the programme. In addition to the special grant, another Rs. one crore each would be spent in the constituencies with the local legislator giving Rs. 50 lakhs from the MLA quota and the district In-charge Minister chipping in with a matching amount. "If necessary, we will make additional grants exclusively to tackle the drinking water problem," he announced, adding that special focus would also be accorded to power supply, ration cards disbursal and problems pertaining to SCs and STs.
Three phases
The Praja Patham programme has been spread over three phases -- April 14 to 21, April 23 to 30 and May 2 to 9. MPs K. Keshava Rao, Asaduddin Owaisi, Anjan Kumar Yadav, P. Madhu, MLAs P. Janardhana Reddy, M. Shashidhar Reddy, M. Mukesh, Malreddy Rangareddy, Ahmed Pasha Quadri, Akberuddin Owaisi, Moazam Khan, Afsar Khan, N. Narasimha Reddy, HUDA Chairman Sudhir Reddy, district Collector R.V. Chandravadan, City Police Commissioner Balwinder Singh, Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration, S.P. Singh, MCH Commissioner Sanjay Jaju, HWMSSB managing director K.S. Jawahar Reddy and HUDA Vice-Chairman Jayesh Ranjan attended.
