Eye institute to launch campaign
Pushpagiri Eye Institute in West Marredpally, which is offering state-of-art facilities to patients, will now conduct programmes on blindness due to diabetes /diabetic retinopathy. The institute would also take up campaign for vision screening in school children, eye donation and R&D in creating artificial cornea, possible utility of stem cells in diseases hitherto supposed to be incurable.
Amaravathi school students excel
Amaravathi Talent High School, Seethaphalmandi, secured second prize at the State-level science exhibition - 2006-07 held at Guntur.
Class VI students of the school -- K. Manasa and K. Madhuri - won a prize for their innovative exhibit, `Generating energy through speed breakers', which could be used for street lights on roads and highways.
