Sealing drive resumes in Delhi
The drive that was to be resumed on Monday as per Supreme Court directions was delayed by several hours and the action on Tuesday remained confined to properties on Lala Lajpat Rai Marg in South Delhi. Blaming the delay on non-availability of police force, Municipal Commissioner Ashok Nigam said: "The sealing drive could be resumed only in the afternoon after the police force was made available to us." Delhi Police spokesman Dependra Pathak, however, said the police were committed to adhering to the Supreme Court's directions.
Woman and daughter jump to death
According the police, Kanchan Bansal (40), Mona (18) and Richa (14) jumped from the first floor of their house at 7-40 p.m. They were rushed to a nearby nursing home from where they were referred to Sushruti Trauma Centre. Kanchan and Mona later succumb to the injuries, while Richa is said to be in a critical condition. She has been operated upon and her condition continues to be very critical, the police said.
Three arrested in betting racket
The accused were identified as Gaurav (25), Rajesh Sharma (22) and Manoj (26). The police claim to have recovered a laptop, four mobile phones, a television and other articles from their possession. The police said Gaurav and Manoj run grocery shops and Rajesh is unemployed.
Two brothers held on murder charges
Accused Wasim and his 16-year-old brother allegedly stabbed Shamim to death as he had intervened in a fight between Wasim and Faeem a couple of days ago. On the basis of a complaint lodged by Shamim's brother Naimuddin, the police arrested both the accused and have registered a case of murder against them.
ACP gets bail in bribery case
CBI Special Judge I K Kochhar releasing Bansal on bail on the condition of furnishing a bail bond and a surety of Rs 1 lakh each held that he had completed almost 50 days in incarceration and his co-accused S-I Jagdish Kumar is already released on bail.
