Corrections and Clarifications

The third paragraph in a report "French campaign kicks off' ("International" page, April 10, 2007) was: "Socialist candidate Segolene Royal is in second place with 23 per cent of the vote, centrist former Education Minister Francois Bayrou is in third place with 19 per cent of the vote while extreme rightwing leader Jean-Marie Le Pen who has led an aggressive anti-immigrant campaign is now in third place with 14 per cent of the vote." Jean-Marie Le Pen should have been in fourth place.

The caption of the accompanying photograph in a report "Aiming for global combat reach, says Air Force chief" (April 10, 2007) was "Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Fali Major". It should have been Air Chief Marshal Fali Homi Major.

In the April 7, 2007 edition, a promo on page 1 was "Nature Under Threat: Article: Op-Ed page" while the report was indicated to be in the inside pages. While the piece "Climate change will hit the poor hard, says report" was published as stated, in the "International" page, there was no article on the Op-Ed page. It was an error.

An AP report "I am innocent: [Ian] Thorpe" ("Sport", April 2, 2007) stated that the luteinising hormone produces testosterone in men. The luteinising hormone does not produce testosterone. Instead, it stimulates the production of testosterone from the Leydig cells of the testis.

An AFP report "Stephen Fleming eyes century of wins" ("Sport", April 9, 2007) stated that "under [Stephen] Fleming, New Zealand bowed out of the 1999 World Cup in England at the semifinals stages. In 2003 in South Africa, it failed to qualify for the Super Sixes." It was an error. New Zealand did make it to Super Six stage in the 2003 World Cup, but could not advance.

An agency report on the Augusta Masters (golf) ("Sport", April 9, 2007) said that Stuart Appleby led with a score of a two-over 218. It later mentioned Tiger Woods and Justin Rose, on three under, as tied for second place. It ought to have been three over.
