TIRUPATI: Private FM channels are all set to conquer the air waves of the temple city soon. Adlabs Films Private Limited, the entertainment arm of Reliance group, is set to launch its BIG 92.7 FM in Tirupati city, which will become its 46th venture in the country. After establishing itself in the top metro cities, the company has chosen Tirupati as its first foray into the grade-II cities in South India. Along with Tirupati, the company has planned to expand to Bareilly, Jhansi, Bikaner, Hissar, etc.
Prasar Bharati tower
While Reliance is already establishing its own base here, it will however be using the Prasar Bharati's (All-India Radio) tower. It is expected to formally launch its operations by May end. Similarly, Sun Network's `S FM' is also working out to set up base in Tirupati. Interestingly, Tirupati's proximity to Chennai and the considerable Tamil population here is expected to work in its favour in terms of content creation. According to information available from the companies, both the channels are expected to dole out denizen-oriented information such as weather conditions and traffic snarls in and around the city, besides targetting the huge influx on pilgrims. "The programmes to be aired will be an exciting mix of general filmi entertainment and local issues", a source said. As All-India Radio's Tirupati FM channel is already meeting the entertainment needs of the city, the listeners are in for a treat with the launch of two more channels.
