Water for villages around Tirupur

CHENNAI:
Water will be supplied from April 20 to 11 villages around Tirupur from the Tirupur Water Supply and Sanitation Project, Local Administration Minister M.K.Stalin informed the Assembly on Wednesday.
The villages faced acute drinking water shortage and the issue was brought to the notice of the Minister by Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader C.Govindasamy.
Delegation
A delegation comprising elected chiefs of the local bodies had also met Mr.Stalin on the issue along with him, he said.
Nallaur and Velampalayam will get 16 lakh litres from the project.
The remaining nine villages - Chettipalayam, Thottipalayam, Nerupperichal, Thottimannarai, Mudalipalayam, Veerapandi, Andipalayam, Mangalam and Murugampalayam - will get a total of 64 lakh litres from the project, the Minister announced.
Mr.Govindasamy cautioned against the moves to privatise water supply and distribution and said that this was a dangerous practice.
Delimitation
The decision of the government to upgrade Tirupur Municipality to Tirupur Municipal Corporation will be given effect to after the process of delimitation of the Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies is completed by the Delimitation Commission.
