Hyderabad
Power off at many places
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
Several places in the State, including some areas in the city, had to go without power supply for an hour from 6 p.m. on Wednesday following disruption to transmission lines caused by rains and dust-storm.
However, the supply was restored at almost all the places by 7.30 p.m.
In case of Hyderabad city, the high voltage transmission lines and transformers at the 400/220 KV sub-stations at Ghanapur, the route through which power is transmitted to the city from Ramagundam thermal station, tripped at 6 p.m.
Collapse of poles occurred in the operation areas of Andhra Pradesh Central and Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Companies.
But for the prompt steps taken by the utilities in swinging into action, the State would have faced a major power breakdown.
The APTransco took heavy load-shedding in Tandur, Yeddumylaram and Sivarampalli to save the system at Ghanapur sub-station.
Once the system at the sub-station was restored, the supply was resumed in full scale in Hyderabad.
