PROVIDING A FORUM: A scene from `Nayi Neralu.' Technicians, actors and the director of the film will interact with the audience at the workshop.
Bangalore: If you think summer is a good time to catch up on some good movies, here is a chance. Cine Maatu, a forum of film enthusiasts, is holding a series of workshops on films starting April 14. First in the series is Nayi Neralu, Girish Kasaravalli's latest film, which has won several national and international honours, followed by P. Sheshadri's Beru on April 15. Technicians, artists and directors of the two films will be present at the screenings for an interaction following the show.
Screening
B.R. Gopinath, convenor of the forum, says that films will be screened every second week of the month as part of the series. "To begin with, we will concentrate on Kannada films. That is because the best of our own films like Phaniyamma or Kanneshwara Rama are often more inaccessible than those of international masters," says Gopinath. Most of these films will be borrowed from Kasaravalli's vast personal collection. Cine Maatu also hopes to show some rare documentaries in the months to come. The screenings will be held at K.V. Subbanna Aatmeeya Ranga Mandira, No. 151, 7th Cross, I Phase, Teachers' Colony, near Dayanand Sagar College. For details call Gopinath (9242523523) or Rajaram (9845931306).
