Parents blamed for boy's death

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The State Government has said that according to preliminary reports, the death of six-year-old Hemanth Kumar was because of negligence on the part of parents who did not seek immediate medical attention. Zilla panchayat deputy secretary in a press release on Wednesday said that according to initial investigation, there was no proof about the boy being treated as soon as he sustained the dog bite two months ago.

The boy was admitted to Yelahanka General Hospital on April 9 stating that he had sustained injuries because of a fall. The boy was put on painkillers and intravenous fluids after he complained of stomach and leg pain and lack of appetite. He was referred to a paediatrician, who surmised that the patient showed symptoms of Rabies.

The boy was referred to Epidemic Diseases Hospital on April 9 at about 7 p.m. But the boy died on April 10.
