DHAKA: Bangladesh's military backed caretaker government chief Fakhruddin Ahmed has assured the nation that the stalled parliamentary election would be held before the end of 2008. In a nationwide address over the radio and television on Thursday night, the chief of the caretaker government said, "I would like to state here categorically that we shall not stay in office a single day more than is necessary." He added, "It would be possible for us to hold the parliamentary elections, as desired by the people, before the expiry of the year 2008."
