KATHMANDU: The Election Constituency Delineation Commission (ECDC) has recommended adding 35 constituencies to the present 205 for Constituency Assembly polls. While 28 will go to the Terai districts, seven will be allotted to the hill districts. The Commission has recommended to retain the 16 constituencies of the Himalayan districts. Talking to media persons after submitting the report to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, Chairman of the Commission Arjun Prasad Singh said the recommendation was made after incorporating suggestions from political parties, civil society and other groups. Mr. Singh said there would be one constituency for every 96,000 persons in the Terai and hill districts. The Commission was formed following violent protests in Terai demanding proportionate representation.
