BANGALORE: South India Rugby 10s tournament will be held at Corps of Military Police grounds here on April 14 and 15. Nine teams including four Bangalore outfits, are participating in the championship. According to Mohan Krishna, president of the South Indian Rugby Football Association, the event will be the first of its kind in Bangalore. Mr. Krishna said that ever since its inception, SIRF has strived to popularise the game in the South India and the region is emerging as the biggest hub for the sport. The event will be played on a league cum-knockout format with top four teams vying for Cup and the next four playing for the Bowl. The field includes last year's winner, Chennai Cheetahs and the runner-up Bangalore Rugby Club. Preliminary rounds will be played on April 14 and the semifinals and final will be held on April 15. The teams: Bangalore Asetz Refugees, Bangalore RFC, Chennai Irish, Tamil Nadu Police `A', Bangalore Tigers, Hyderbad RFC, Chennai Cheetahs, CMP Bangalore and Tamil Nadu Police 'B'.
